Tasting Notes

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Terros is produced from three different varietals, 50% Garnacha from 96-year-old vines, 25% Carinena from 75-year-old vines, and 25% Syrah from 20-year-old vines and was aged for 14 months in barrel. Inky purple, it exhibits a fragrant perfume of cedar, tobacco, pepper, cassis, black cherry, and blackberry. Supple on the palate, this plush wine is forward and easy to drink. The tannins are ripe and soft, the finish long and pure. Drink this tasty wine over the next decade." (02/07) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated ruby. Spicy redcurrant and cherry aromas are complicated by musky underbrush, tobacco and iron; smells like a top-notch Graves. Suave, focused red fruit flavors offer a pleasing bitterness, with silky tannins carrying through the finish. Shows lovely restraint." (Sept/Oct '07) Full of tarry, sweet, red cherry fruit, bolstered by sassafras and vanilla on the nose. This is serious stuff from the get-go. On first sip the most apparent aspect of this wine is its texture, creamy and coating without showing any unnecessary heft or excess manipulation. Boysenberry jam combines with sweet licorice ropes, black peppercorn and spicy cola here, in a very ripe but natural way. If you are a fan of wines from the Rhone, domestic Zins or the more balanced side of Aussie Syrah this should pique your interest. (Bryan Brick, K&L)
