The delightfully pure, refreshing Les Copains from the famed James Berry Vineyard in Paso Robles blends equal parts grenache and mourvèdre to great effect. The soil profile at James Berry is similar to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which explains why these two bold varietals thrive, and produce such a balanced wine. The 2006 vintage is a bit lighter in style than the 2005, highlighting the cool growing season. Jasmine, bay and raspberry aromas give way to raspberry and garrigue flavors. Already accessible, this wine will continue to drink well over the next five years.
