The 2007 Pinot Noir Garys’ Vineyard is one of the finest single vineyard Pinot Noirs I have tasted from California this year, it reveals gorgeous aromas of smoked herbs, charcoal, forest floor, and sweet black currants, raspberries, and plums. This incredibly fragrant, full-bodied, opulent wine struts its stuff in a magnificently complex style. It should drink nicely for 5-7 years, but who can wait that long? (RP)
Here's a big, powerful, juicy young Pinot Noir that precisely shows the terroir of Santa Lucia Highlands and Garys' Vineyard, as well as the qualities of the vintage. The wine is massive in ripe black cherry, black raspberry, currant, cola, licorice and mocha flavors. As big as it is, it retains an elegant silkiness. Should slowly develop over many years.
Rich, fleshy and full-bodied, with a tightly focused core of plum and black cherry fruit that fans out into wild berry and spice, ending with a touch of jam and ripe tannins. (JL)
Very sweet and very outgoing with lots of rich oak sharing the stage with lots of cherry-like fruit, this mouthfilling wine is very much driven by ripeness but its particulars are one and all those of Pinot Noir. Thick and rounded and faintly hot at the finish, it is meant to be drunk with flavorful foods, and, while it will not fall apart anytime soon, it is already surprisingly showy and very much ready to go.
