Tasting Notes

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "A very fine Cabernet that combines the modern cult style ripeness with old-fashioned structure to produce a wine of exceptional appeal. It's rich in mountain-intense black currants, bitter chocolate, spices and smoky oak, wrapped into splendid tannins, and the finish is throroughly dry. The grapes are from the Sonoma side of Spring Mountain, and the winemaker was veteran Marco DiGiulio." (11/09) According to the Wine Spectator: "Smoky, toasty roasted herb and berry flavors are rich and full-bodied, showing plenty of oak and ending with dried currant, mineral and cedar flavors." (11/09) Hidden Ridge is a very young winery with a very big future. If this wine is any indication, Hidden Ridge is on the road to becoming a classic Sonoma Cabernet producer. Former Langtry winemaker Marco DiGiulio is the winemaker guiding this young winery on it's way to stardom. The 2005 is big bright and smoky with big lush tannin and beautiful mid palate of black fruit and chocolate. There is a hint of vanilla, herbs and oak that round out this Cabernet. For this price, this wine outperforms most wines that cost twice as much. Drink now to 2011. (Mike Jordan, K&L Wine Merchants)
