Tasting Notes

92 points Robert Parker: "The finest wine in this portfolio is the 2007 Côtes du Rhône-Villages. Made from 100% Grenache, and cropped at a remarkably low 17 hectoliters per hectare, this stunning wine could easily stand up to the top Châteauneuf-du-Papes. Fresh acidity gives razor-like focus to the sumptuous black raspberry, kirsch liqueur, smoked herb, and incense notes. An inky/purple color, full body, and a voluptuous texture result in a shockingly good Côtes du Rhône-Villages. It should drink well for 7-8 years. As I have written in the past, this biodynamically farmed estate is a treasure-trove of excellent as well as value-priced wines. Proprietor Daniel Boulle offers a multitude of cuvees, and his 2007s seem to hit all the sweet spots on the palate." (02/09) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Bold and very ripe, with delicious, almost gushing layers of blackberry, fig compote and boysenberry, all held together by a strong minerally spine and a long, racy graphite finish. Rock-solid and very impressive for the appellation. Grenache. Drink now through 2011. 500 cases made." (09/09)
