This méthode cap classique (South African fizz made in the same way as Champagne) from SA stalwart Graham Beck has a lovely creamy red fruit and apple character, with a rich mousse and brioche finish. It has a vibrant raspberry acidity and a long finish. Great value. (JB)
A fresh and fruity sparking wine with a light cherry and lemon character. Medium body, fresh acidity and a lean, energized finish. Drink now.
Disgorged December 2016, the NV Brut Rosé is a blend of 54% Pinot Noir and 46% Chardonnay with 5.7 grams per liter of residual sugar. It offers attractive scents of red cherries and a punnet of strawberries on a summer's day. Fine delineation and focus here, if not the complexity you might expect in a top-flight Rosé. The palate is well balanced with commendable weight and volume in the mouth. This is not a shy retiring flower, but a flavor-packed sparkling Rosé that should delight for the next 3-4 years. (NM)
The NV Brut Rosé, disgorged in February 2018, has a fresh rose petal and light cherry bouquet and a faint touch of the sea in the background. The palate is well balanced, with a slightly honeyed, textured opening. This is a richer style of Brut Rosé, though it manages to maintain tension on the finish. Fine. (NM)
Peach, white cherry and bergamot notes mingle here, backed by a hint of watermelon rind on the lightly coarse finish. (JM, Web Only—2014)
