Big, powerful, soft, rich and ageable. In other words, classic Etude Heirloom. Resembles the rich 2002, with massive flavors of cherries, raspberries, cocoa, anise, bacon and smoky sandalwood. Enormously complex, a wine that changes with every sip as it breathes and warms. Shows the density of Cabernet, with Pinot’s silkiness.
A very ripe nose features notes of spiced plum, violets and black raspberry that are in keeping with the extremely rich, plump and rounded medium-full flavors that possess plenty of extract on the sappy and reasonably long finish. This is a big and concentrated wine and while it's by no means heavy, I wouldn't describe it as an elegant example either, which is to say that it will most please those who enjoy a full-on but not overly alcoholic style. Drink 2013+.
