Intense yet elegant and stylish, this is a wine of subtlety and finesse, with a layered mix of cedary currant, spice and anise flavors that unfold gracefully, with a pleasing, lingering aftertaste. Drink now through 2018.
The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (650 cases; 100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is more supple, open-knit and flamboyant, revealing notes of espresso roast, chocolate, sweet red and black currants and loamy soil. This beautifully textured, opulent, showy Cabernet should drink well for 10-15 years. The high quality of the 2007 and 2008 vintages for Bordeaux varietals is clearly evidenced by these two offerings. Both wines demonstrate the personality of their particular vintage. (RP)
Deep medium ruby. Cool mineral and licorice notes lift the aromas of black fruits and dark chocolate. Juicy, spicy and pliant on entry, then a bit tougher in the mid-palate, with moderately ripe flavors of dark berries and mint along with a suggestion of adhesive tape. This seems less rich and complex than a sample I tried from bottle a year ago, as well as a bit dry on the back. Perhaps passing through a stunted stage of its development. (ST)
