Tasting Notes

From a plot planted in 1951, this is truly fabulous Fourchaumes. Capable of long aging in the cellar, this has that classic Chablis nose of oyster shells and the sea. At present it is extremely tightly wound and almost pulsing with energy. There is lots of weight on the palate, and a lovely oyster-shell and lime finish. But it needs some time (or perhaps a boat trip across the water), to wake up fully. WOW! Keep reading to see why you want to age this. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy buyer)

A beautiful and exotic old vine Chablis that is worth the extra few dollars cause boy will it pay off. A bit young right now but extremely fresh and vibrant for those hot summer days and nights. You'll want all the great acidity and minerality dancing on your palate. Grab a case now to put a few away for next summer!

We poured this in our recent Burgundy tasting and although it is still tight this is a beautiful Chablis. The nose was closed but on the palate lots of mineral and apple with the great acidity that you would expect. Try to hold on to this wine for at least 3 years.

If 08 is as good as the experts say it is (and from the few wines I've tasted, I believe that it is) then this wine represents the best value we currently have. Great vineyard, great producer, stellar vintage. The Fourchaume 11er from Tremblay has all the intensity, minerals and acid that I treasure in French white wines such as this one. It's a phenomenally delicious bottle which I could not help loading up on for the cellar.

This is an outstanding value in great white Burgundy... How can they do wine this great for such little money? Perhaps I should be asking why Chardonnay producers from outside of Chablis are charging so much for average wine! The 2008's are a vintage that anyone with a passion for Burgundy should be buying in Chablis- and a lot of it. This Fourchaumes Vieilles Vignes is full of breed and power now, and will reward the patient generously!
Top Value! Drink from 2010 to 2023
