In 1976, Joel Peterson took his microbiology degree and made two single-vineyard Sonoma County Zinfandels that marked the beginning of one of the most well-known wineries in California. He and his buddy Reed Foster had $4000 and no vineyard or winery of their own, but those two wines went on to earn accolades and awards. This vintage was released in 1996 to mark the then-ascendant winery's 20th anniversary.
