According to Robert Parker: "This is one of the oldest St. Emilion estates and has been owned by the same family since 1785. Situated in the northern part of the appellation, the vineyard is located on a soil base composed primarily of limestone. Soutard is highly prized in the Benelux countries, but the wine has largely been ignored outside Europe. That is a shame, because this is one of the most traditionally made and longest-lived wines in St-Emilion."
