Very much in the ripe, rich, open, fleshy, generous, inviting style of the best Dehlinger's Goldridge efforts, this wine combines a big dose of concentrated red cherry smells with light hints of dried strawberries and creamy oak richness. It is full and supple on the palate with just enough tannin for grip, but not so much that the wine calls for extended aging, and its youthfully juicy flavors reiterate the notion that this is a wine to be enjoyed in the here and now.
The 2003 Pinot Noir Goldridge Vineyard (1,300 cases) exhibits plenty of cherry, plum, spice box, and herb aromas and flavors in addition to crisp acidity, medium body, forward fruit, and a plump, spicy finish. It should last for 4-5 years. Kudos to Tom Dehlinger, a guy who seems to be content to stay under the radar and simply make an assortment of very fine as well as realistically priced wines!
