The Beau family is one of the oldest artisanal Cognac distillers in the Segonzac, the heart of the Grande Champagne region. Samuel Beau started distilling in 1895, bottling and selling his brandies under his own name, which at that time was unusual. To this day, the Beau family still takes meticulous care of their 200-plus acres of Grande Champagne fruit, most of which is Ugni Blanc with a tiny fraction of Colombard. The VSOP is an average of 15 years old and is richer and more mouthfilling than the Beau VS, with chewy caramel and dried fruits abound. Paul Pacult's Spirits Journal gave it 4 stars, calling it "lovely" and "highly recommending it."
