A creamy texture, buttery aromas and subtle ginger flavor make this wine from Schramsberg generous, complex and easy to love. Bosc pear, white peach, powdered ginger and cinnamon all combine for good complexity and concentration. Chardonnay leads the blend 68% to 32% Pinot Noir. (JG)
A notably fresh, fruity and overtly yeasty nose evidences notes of green apple, citrus and pear scents. There is good vibrancy to the delicious and equally fruity flavors that possess good if not special depth on the moderately dry but not really austere finale that is shaped by firm effervescence. This has arrived at a point where it could be held for a few more years or enjoyed now.
The two best values from Schramsberg are their non-vintage Mirabelle cuvées. The NV Mirabelle Brut, 61% Pinot Noir and 39% Chardonnay, shows loads of tropical fruit, a touch of delicate pineapple, pear, apple skin and crisp, medium-bodied flavors. (RP)
A blend of fruit from Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Monterey, Marin and Santa Barbara, this is mostly from the 2013 vintage, with seven percent reserve wine. More Pinot Noir than Chardonnay, it shows hints of strawberry fruit along with some butterscotch sweetness. Gentle and brisk, it’s a pleasant sparkler for aperitifs.
Crisp and easygoing, with lively apple and raspberry flavors. (TF, Web-2017)
