This is a dark fruited and floral 2006, with more of the tobacco and green herb character than most growers in Napa Valley allow Cabernet to express. That varietal character adds complexity and firm structure to a rich and sleek wine. cellar it for several years to let the oak integrate into fruit, then serve with prime rib.
A good wine, with jammy Cabernet flavors of blackberries, cassis and savory spices. It's fairly low in alcohol, with a brisk, clean scour, but tannic and astringent. Feels immature even at the age of nearly five years, but it should develop. *Cellar Selection*
Bright, deep red-ruby. Oak aromas of black cherry, coffee and graphite. Juicy, tight and firmly built, with black fruit flavors currently overshadowed by exotic oak tones. Shows a restrained sweetness but avoids the dryness of so many 2006 Cabernets. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins. (ST)
The unmistakable signature of vanilla bean and coconut scents fold in nicely with taut yet supple tiers of cedar, black cherry, currant and berry jam notes. Full-bodied, ending with firm, structured tannins. Drink now through 2018. (JL)
