One of my favorite offerings is the brilliant 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Wall Vineyard. From an 1,800-foot elevation vineyard, it is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Cabernet Franc. Black raspberry, blueberry, licorice, incense and graphite characteristics are accompanied by an opaque purple color, gorgeous complexity and richness and hints of toasty oak as well as flowers. The wine is generous, savory and expansive, but the wealth of extravagant fruit nearly hides abundant tannin in the finish. This brilliant Cabernet is actually underpriced for its quality. (RP)
Good ruby-red. Musky, very ripe aromas of cassis, mocha, menthol and licorice pastille. Large-scaled, sweet and somehow elegant, with lovely integrated acidity giving life and clarity to the silky flavors of dark berries, plum and cocoa powder. Big, round and long on personality. The wine's ripe tannins are covered by mouthfilling fruit. (ST)
Rustic and rough-hewn, dense and chewy, with intense wild berry, cola, mineral, forest floor, cedar and graphite. Yet for all its wildness and rusticity, there's much to be enjoyed in hiking through the rocky mix of flavors. (JL)
