Though a dark straw colour similar to the 2004, the 2005 is riper, reflecting the vintage, with more melons than spice. Still, characteristic peppery notes come through nicely. Indeed, over the years tasting them side-by-side, the 2005 has always been riper and richer, while the 2004, racier and sleeker. Despite its richer presence, it retains vibrancy and is still energetic the next night. The 2005/2004 pair present an intriguing duality of style to consumers. Drinking Window 2021 - 2026. (MA)
100% from vines in Aloxe and all domaine fruit. The majority of wines in the range have been expressive and open yet this is tight and backward to the point of reticence yet it is still beautifully elegant with green apple and acacia blossom aromas that merge seamlessly into stunningly rich, full and powerful flavors that possess real drive and punch on the penetrating finish that is chiseled and almost painfully intense. We'll see the final result once it's in bottle but this would appear to have terrific potential, indeed this and the Montrachet may be the class of the group. *Sweet Spot*
A powerful white, this exhibits nut, lemon cream and mineral flavors, shaded by spice. Intense and concentrated, with a tangy finish and a long aftertaste of butterscotch and mineral. Best from 2010 through 2025. (BS)
