While they don't, we're fortunate that there are 325 cases of this meaty, masculine, Côte-Rôtie like effort from the gnarled, windswept vines of Peay's vineyards on the far reaches of the Sonoma Coast. Flowering rosemary, violets, black and white pepper, lavender and rare roasted meat envelope your senses when you first pour a glass, slowly revealing blackberry fruit and dashes of cinnamon with air. The palate is almost crunchy with blue fruit and a irony-rich bloodlike character that sounds strange but is wonderfully appealing in Syrah. Balanced, with acidity, power and grace, this is a Syrah to shut all the naysayers up.
