  (85% Mourvedre, 7% Petite Sirah and 4% each of Syrah and "Valdepenas," which is old home-winemakerese for Tempranillo) Deep ruby. Intensely perfumed aromas of vibrant strawberry and raspberry complicated by bright mineral notes and a zesty suggestion of blood orange. Pure red fruit flavors are complicated by an enticing spice note and hints of cracked pepper and licorice. Lively and impressively long on the finish. The Mourvedre vines were planted in 1910. (ST)

  Another ripe, fruit driven offering, the 2005 Carlisle Two Acres comes from very low yields and vines that were planted in 1910. It exhibits a full bodied, rustic personality with meat, leather, vanilla and graphite notes that are supported by big, purple fruit aromas. Textured, soft and easy drinking, this should offer lots of pleasure over the next 10 years. (JebDunnuck.com)
