Pure and precise and bursting with juicy young fruit, this wonderfully well-stuffed Pinot Noir achieves a degree of rarely seen varietal richness without resorting to out-of-bounds ripeness or more oak than is absolutely necessary. It is so rich and stridently fruity that its youthful firmness goes all but unnoticed, but make no mistake, it is structured for keeping as the finest wines are, and it promises to find further polish and grow that much more inviting if it is allowed to rest quietly for another half-dozen years. *Two Stars*
Vivid red. Spicy black raspberry and cherry skin aromas are complicated by smoky minerals, anise and a suave blood orange quality. Fleshy, sweet red and dark berry flavors display liqueur-like depth and power, picking up candied rose on the back end. The refreshingly bitter finish leaves tangy berry skin notes behind. Along with the Kanzler, this is the most energetic of this year's line-up. (ST)
Spicy, earthy and vibrant, with wild berry, sage and herb notes. Finishes somewhat simpler in this grouping. (JL, Web-2012)
An expressive and highly perfumed aromatic profile speaks of mostly upper register red berry fruit before sliding away into fresh, vibrant and supple medium-bodied flavors that display very little warmth provided that the serving temperature is properly maintained as well as none of the edginess that many in this range evidence. Very solid quality here.
