The 2009 Pinot Noir Zotovich emerges from one of the warmer sites the winery works with. Sweet candied fruit, flowers and crushed berries are some of the nuances that flow in this perfumed, intriguing wine. Sweet roses and herbs appear later, adding further dimensions of nuance. There is something eccentric to the Zotovich that is incredibly appealing. (AG)
Bright red. An intensely perfumed bouquet evokes red fruit preserves, Asian spices and woodsmoke, with a sexy note of rose pastille in the background. Juicy and expansive on the palate, with very good depth to its sappy black raspberry and cherry flavors. The rose note gains strength with air and lingers on the long, spicy, clean finish.
Here the lacquer note is present but happily it is quite discreet if not nearly invisible. The high-toned nose features primarily red berry fruit and spice hints that precede the detailed, intense yet almost delicate medium weight flavors that possess solid focus though the moderately warm finish thins out somewhat.
