Gorgeous fruit here with minerals and flowers and dark fruits. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long finish. Balanced and pretty with a long finish. Need another three to four years to soften. This is from a third year crop.
Deep ruby. Aromas of blackberry, incense, anise and Asian spices. Juicy, sappy and deeply fruity, with red and dark berry, mineral and floral pastille flavors enlivened by juicy acidity. Vibrant and light on its feet, with excellent focus and back-end cut. Elegant, flavorful wine, finishing with firm tannins, solid grip and outstanding persistence. (JR)
The 2009 Pinot Noir 3-D is a big, large-scaled wine that needs time to come together. It possesses striking inner perfume. Dark fruit, licorice and flowers wrap around the powerful, intense finish. This should be superb once the tannins begin to melt away. No one has done more to carry the banner for the Santa Rita Hills than Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton. Both together at Brewer-Clifton and separately in their other projects, Brewer and Clifton consistently deliver delicious wines that are also deeply thought provoking with regards to the potential these vineyard sites hold. The Pinots in particular are compelling. (AG)
There is a hint of lacquer to the otherwise complex and notably ripe red berry fruit aromas that lead to rich, round and supple middle weight flavors that possess good mid-palate density and fine volume, all wrapped in a solidly persistent finish. The nose is frankly a bit odd but overall, I like the delivery, in particular the tightly focused finish.
