Deep red-ruby. Aromas of cassis, black cherry, chocolate, smoke and minerals. Sweet, suave and rich, with a fine-grained texture and a chocolatey ripeness. Concentrated, sweet, chewy cabernet with excellent persistence. This was the first vintage winemaker Mike Hirby made from start to finish, and is head and shoulders above the 2003 version. (ST)
Dark, rich and chocolaty, with intense dark fruit, plum, currant, mocha and espresso. Fills out on the palate, ending with a concentrated mix of rich fruit, cedary oak and firm yet ripe tannins. (JL)
Rich, syrupy texture, ultra-ripe black cherry fruit and some residual sweetness (and a flare-up of heat). Chocolate and espresso add to the very rich mix, and the medium-heavy tannins create structure. Well-made for the style. (LM)
