The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a slightly more brooding and formidably endowed effort displaying more extract, tannin and structure. In spite of its massive size, concentration and extract, it possesses gorgeously sweet tannins as well as a sense of equilibrium. (RP)
Interesting aromas of Christmas pudding, sultanas, and dark fruits. Full bodied and powerful, with lots of structure holding it all together. Currants and dark berry pie on the palate give way to a solid finish of cassis. This has wonderful balance, but is a little tight right now. It has all the right stuff, just needs 2 more years of bottle age.
Deep ruby. Liqueur-like aromas of black cherry, cassis, blackberry, bitter chocolate and slightly tarry oak are accented by a minty nuance. Wonderfully broad, fine-grained wine with shocking inner-mouth lift thanks to its balance of sweetness and urgent acidity. Still amazingly primary in a classic mountain style--in fact, almost simple today. Penetrating black fruit, violet and licorice flavors carry impressively on the firmly tannic, chocolatey finish, which shows no dryness. This infant is evolving at a snail's pace. (ST) 93+
Maintains a healthy intensity and density, with extracted dark berry, currant, plum and tobacco flavors. The tannins turn bumpy on the aftertaste, which adds an element of intrigue, ultimately tilting toward the dry side. (JL, Web-2017)
