Novy's 2009 Sonoma County Syrah blends fruit from five vineyards across the county, from Dry Creek to the Russian River (almost 90% of the fruit is from here, actually), and it's a big wine. It has spicy white pepper characteristics on the nose and palate, plus deep, powerful black fruit, savory herb notes and a lot of weight. The tannins are on the firmer side, too, so we recommend letting this baby rest in your cellar for a year or two, or giving it a couple hours in the decanter if you open it now.
