The 2000 Pinot Noir Octagon Vineyard is a French-tasting effort. It boasts copious amounts of strawberry and cherry fruit intermixed with soil, subtle wood, and a hint of root beer, good ripeness, medium body, and a compressed but pleasant finish. (RP)
Medium red. Tightly wound on the nose, hinting at strawberry, cherry, currant, flowers and chocolatey torrefaction. Then tighter-grained than the foregoing examples, with juicy, intense strawberry flavor framed by harmonious acidity. This offers subtle sweetness of fruit. Finishes firm and persistent. (ST)
Deft balance, with elegant, complex flavors. Offers a mix of fleshy plum and cherry fruit along with a nice scent of fresh earth, herbs and minerals. (JL)
