A beautiful deep ruby/plum color with hints of purple is followed by aromas of flowers, raspberries and blueberries in this medium to full-bodied 2009 Pinot Noir. It possesses fresh acidity, stunning purity, a long, expansive mouthfeel, terrific equilibrium, and the oak is completely concealed by the layers of fruit. It should drink well for another 10-15 years. (RP)
*Cellar Selection* A great Pinot Noir, although it’s rugged now in its youth, with a scoury mouthfeel. Raspberries, cherries, cola, mushrooms splashed with balsamic, and white pepper, clove and cinnamon spices mark the flavors. Should emerge from austerity by 2015 and provide good drinking for several years afterward.
A very spicy nose of plum, dark pinot and floral notes of violet and lavender is trimmed in barely discernible wood. There is outstanding concentration to the delicious yet quite serious medium weight plus flavors that deliver excellent complexity on the impressively persistent finish. There are touches of tang and warmth though I suspect that the former will round out quickly and the latter should not really be an issue provided that the appropriate serving temperature is maintained. Well worth considering.
Here is a wide-open, full-throttle Pinot that holds nothing back, but it is driven by very pure fruit rather than runaway ripeness. Its generous appointment of optimally ripened cherries is matched by a tantalizing complement of rich, crème-brulee-like oak, and the two work together effortlessly. If a bit of last-minute astringency warns against early drinking, all of the pieces are in place for risk-free aging, and a bright future awaits several years hence.
Vivid ruby-red. Raspberry and cherry aromas are complicated by smoky Indian spices and anise. Sweet red and dark berry flavors show liqueur-like depth but remain lively and incisive, with impressive mineral lift on the back end. Juicy, finely etched red fruit and floral notes dominate the long, sappy finish. I bet that this concentrated Pinot will reward at least a decade of cellaring.
Offers intense, vibrant, well-focused and elegant flavors, with loamy earth, crushed rock, dried berry and subtle floral scents, as flavors build on the finish. Best from 2013 through 2020.
