Winemaker's notes: "In many vintages it may take months, even years, for the Le Puits Sec bottling to fully reveal itself, however the forwardness of the 2009 vintage is very evident in this bottling as its complexity jumps from the glass. Classic LPS flavors and aromas with a silky textured mid-palate balanced with ample acidity. Aged for 20 months in Francois Freres barrels (30% new). 500 cases bottled." Situated on the eastern side of the Eola-Amity Hills ridge, the "Le Puits Sec" Vineyard (French for 'the dry well', a 'les Puits Sec' does actually exist on the premises) enjoys what is regarded as one of Oregon's best micro-climates for the production of fine wines from Burgundian varietals. Inspired by two of Burgundy's top small producers - Henri Jayer (Vosne-Romanée), and Michel Niellon (Chassagne-Montrachet) - Evesham Wood applies a Burgundian sensibility to the process of crafting distinctive, terroir-driven wines that present a true Eola Hills character. Evesham Wood is deepy committed to sustainable viticultural and winemaking practices. They are a certified organic vineyard and winery, having obtained certification from the Oregon Tilth in 2000 and federally in 2002. Additionally, they are a charter member of the Deep Roots Coalition, an advocacy group for wines produced exclusively from non-irrigated vines, as well as part of the Renaissance des Appellations, an international organic/biodynamic organization with strict quality regulations for members.
