The brilliant 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate puts Dehlinger’s alongside the finest made in Sonoma. From a hilltop vineyard, it exhibits classic aromas of creme de cassis, charcoal, roasted herbs, licorice, and spice box. Full-bodied with outstanding opulence, flesh, and purity, sweet tannins, and a subtle oak influence, it should evolve for 20-25 years. (RP) 93+
Saturated ruby. Brooding, powerful cassis and blackberry aromas complicated by cured tobacco and mocha. Deep and chewy, offering spicy dark fruit flavors, solid but harmonious tannins and good mineral lift. Much more backward than the claret but with greater depth and richness. Finishes sweet, broad and long. This wine is made exclusively from Dehlinger's hilltop vines. (ST) 91+
Young and well-defined aromas of ripe red cherries, raspberries, creamy oak and black soils set the stage for the full, somewhat beamy wine that follows on the palate. It is supple and almost fleshy in feel to start, comes with open and reasonably juicy black cherry flavors and holds well into its fruity, tannin-framed aftertaste. It is not a wine in need of long-aging, and service with savory stews and braised meats will show it off well. *One Star*
