In many years, this wine turns out a little on the thin, firm side, and regardless of quality, it seems to be less rich than most of the Edwards Pinots. Not so in 2001. Here is a deep, round and mouthfilling wine whose pulpy cherry nose and flavors comes seasoned by notes of cocoa and sweet wood smoke. It harkens back to its Olivet Lane styling in a firmer and somewhat astringent finish but never loses its way and is totally successful this time out.
