The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Steinhauer Ranch was very good...Interestingly, each year when I taste through these wines, the sum of the individual parts is always the best wine...Nevertheless, it is an exercise in single vineyard terroirs and is an interesting process. Usually there are around 250 cases of each of these single vineyard offerings. The single vineyard offerings are all noteworthy, and analytically, they are more similar than dissimilar.
Cassis and nutty oak on the nose. Sweet on entry, then a bit chunky in the middle, with a brooding character to its flavors of dark fruits, mint and licorice. This is much more clenched and less perfumed than the 2006 was at the same stage. Finishes with strong, chewy tannins that will require extended aging.
