Tasting Notes

89 points Robert Parker: "The internationally styled 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits barrique aging in its notes of black fruit, new oak, espresso, and smoke. Medium-bodied, with considerable finesse and elegance as well as a clean, long finish, it could easily pass for a premier cru from the Cotes de Beaune in a blind tasting. Drink it over the next 5-6 years." (02/04) 89 points Wine Spectator: "Attractive. Very reserved aromatically, offering just a hint of mineral and pebbles, but in the palate it explodes with sensational ripe red and black fruit layered with spices and licorice. Firm but ripe tannins, and hints of chocolate, smoke and mocha, but in the end it's ripe fruit that comes back. Best from 2007 through 2020." (09/03)
