Putting the Clos de la Roche to one side, this is usually the class of the Lignier cellar with a fantastically complex, deeply pitched nose that displays an exuberant yet powerful aromas and an almost pungent minerality followed by incredibly fine and beautifully detailed flavors that are a perfect blend of power and grace. But it's the palate-staining intensity that really distinguishes this from its brethren with a finish that just won't quit and this too is crafted in an understated, ultra pure style. Highly recommended. *Outstanding*
Good deep, bright red. Raspberry, humus and underbrush on the nose; slight suggestion of stewed fruits. Then round, broad and vinous but not yet filled in. Very Morey-typical soil tones of wild red berries, smoke, roasted herbs and underbrush. Finishes long and pure, with broad, dusty tannins and emerging red cherry and raspberry fruitiness. Give this five years. (ST) 90+
