This is tangy and delicious with juicy fruit and a clean berry, cedar and light chocolate character. Medium to full body. Drink now or hold.
The ripe fruit element is perfectly contained and just short of seeming overdone or jammy. It's soft and round, with loads of oak-driven spice, like cinnamon and ground clove, and plump tones of red cherry, blackberry and plum. What's really nice is the freshness and overall supple texture.
The cherry, plum and leather flavors are accented by oak spice in this modern-styled red. It works together well, following up with cedar and tobacco notes on the long finish. Bright and juicy. Best from 2014 through 2024. (BS)
Medium ruby with palish orange rim. More minerally than fruity on the nose, at least for the moment. Extremely fine, concentrated fruit core, with crunchy tannins. Ends a tad stalky but lots of promise for the future. 16/20 points. (WS)
The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino is a huge wine endowed with tons of textural depth and richness. Flowers, mint, oak, licorice and tobacco are some of the notes that add complexity to the exuberant fruit in this large scaled, dramatic Brunello. A distinct element of sweetness is distracting. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. (AG)
