A second bottled proffered by no less that Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall, showed much better. It is far less volatile with diffuse scents of iron rust, mushroom and strong sous-bois scents. The palate is medium-bodied and fully mature, though there is more cohesion and weight here. Decayed, rustic red berry fruit that are once again infused with that ferrous note, lead to a grainy foursquare but pleasurable finish. Personally I would not leave this much longer, but it is a far more respectable wine than I presupposed. (NM)
