I am a big fan of this wine every year. The 2008 shows beautiful aromas of dried flowers and spices with chocolate underneath. The palate is full and very velvety with lots of intensity and flavor in the finish. Racy, elegant and finesse are words that come to mind to describe this wine. Best in two or three years.
As one would expect of this wine based on its past performances in our tastings, it is tight and deep at one and the same time, and for all of its concentrated fruit in both nose and mouth, it is not yet beginning to show its finest form. That said, its focus is spot on with sweet curranty notes set against slight soily richness, creamy oak and hints of olive in the background. It tannins and noticeable finishing heat may not please all palates, but, if the wine is allowed to age for five to ten years, it will reward handsomely.
