The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon from Cakebread Cellars is a selection of dozens of barrel lots which represent climates primarily in the warmer, northern region of Napa Valley and 5% from Carneros. The wine spent a total of eighteen months in 35% new French oak, and additions of 13% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot round out the Cabernet. A fruit-driven nose of currant, black cherry, and fig paste introduce a structured, minerally palate hinting at the fruit tones that have just emerged since bottling.
