Ruby-red. A highly fragrant bouquet evokes fresh red berries, Asian spices and orange zest, with a floral quality gaining strength with air. Juicy, expansive and seamless, offering sweet raspberry and blood orange flavors and a touch of bitter cherry. The brisk, penetrating finish features a gently spicy quality and shows no rough edges. The 2010 Pinot Noir Alegria Hilliard Bruce Vineyard is another impeccable wine bursting at the seams with glorious purity and depth. With the Alegria, Lato is really pushing the limit of ripeness. The 2010 is missing the verve and aromatic nuance found in some of the other Pinots, but in exchange, it will drink well upon release, even if the fruit is extremely primary at this stage. There is no shortage of personality here. (AG)
