From the winery: "April 29, 2005 - We planted this Atlas Peak vineyard in 1991, at an elevation of 1450 feet. The lack of soil and volcanic rock required several loads of dynamite to prepare for planting. The resulting concentration is evident in this low yielding vineyard. Deep, jammy black fruits complement the well-integrated new French oak and sweet character that rises from the glass. Waves of sweet ripe black cherries and blackberries contribute to a powerful attack on the palate. Firm and balanced, these fruit create a broad, rich wine, full of tannin and finishing with lingering flavors of dark cocoa powder. This vineyard was converted to organic management in 2005."
