One of our favorites. This wine really impressed us back in April when we travelled to Bordeaux. Toasty aromas, with a balanced, feminine style. This wine is a steal. Fifth-growth quality for a low price. Monbrison's delicious wines may be due in large part to their incredibly strict vineyard management. They are legendary for restricting yields in order to achieve brilliant concentration. It's a tough decision to make in a time when Margaux wine is so highly sought-after because more wine equates to more money in the short run. By restricting yields, the limited amount of nutrients available in the plant gets to a smaller number of bunches and allows for healthier, tastier grapes. This far-sighted approach to winemaking has allowed Monbrison to develop such an outstanding reputation over the years. Additionally, because Monbrison is a 'Cru Bourgeois' you can expect to save some money in comparison to many of the famous classified Margaux producers.
