A wine that continues to improve with age. Shows loads of ripe plum, almost prune, with hints of vanilla and mineral. Full, chewy and tight. Still needs time. (JS, Web Only-2007)
Ex-cellar bottle tasted blind at the Lynch Bages vertical. Much more closed on the nose with notes of blackberry, wild hedgerow, a touch of liquorice and Asian spice. The palate is full-bodied, firm tannins, good concentration, nice tension, although much more linear than I was expecting. Does not have the flair I was expecting although I admire its peppery, irony finish. Good depth of flavour, still a little unresolved. Tasted September 2009. (NM, Wine Journal)
Dark blackish ruby with a pale rim. High toned, almost charcoal nose but the promise of luscious fruit underneath. Rich and spicy on the palate. A satisfying claret with some sweetness and charm on the end but very much in the classic mould, finishing dry.
