Bright red. Aromas of red berries, Asian spices, flowers and minerals offer a compellingly elegant profile. Fresh raspberry and bitter cherry flavors are impressive for their clarity and punch, with silky tannins arriving late. Clean and brisk, with great finishing lift and a lingering impression of red licorice. This is really sexy. (ST)
The 2006 Pinot Noir Alberigi again displays the more muscular side of Pinot Noir, with a dark plum/ruby color and sweet notes of roasted meats, bouquet garni, truffle, and sweet cherry and plum. The wine is relatively heady, full, and like all of these, best drunk in its first 7-8 years. Radio-Coteau is another great success story, with proprietor Eric Sussman producing small-lot, handcrafted wines. Everything is fermented naturally, there are no enzymes, acidulations, very low SO2 is utilized, and the wines are bottled in-house, with neither fining nor filtration. This is always an exciting line-up of wines. (RP)
A very expressive and pretty, as well as very red pinot fruit, nose introduces delicious, round and sweet flavors that possess a moderately robust mouth feel as the tannins are ripe but clearly in evidence. I particularly like the depth here and while there is a trace of finishing warmth, it's really quite subtle provided that the wine is kept cool. Worth a look.
