I was blown away by the 2010 Ripper, a 100% Grenache done in concrete for the first time. It boasts captivating aromatic complexity, layers of sweet, refined fruit and fabulous overall balance. Vivid red fruit, flowers, mint and spices linger on the sublime finish. The Ripper boasts extraordinary varietal expression. Making pure Grenache in Paso Robles is not easy, but this is a model of what can be achieved here. Although impeccably restrained, the sheer glycerin and richness are pure California. The 2010 Ripper is a modern-day classic from Booker and proprietor Eric Jensen. (AG) 97+
Strikingly rich and complex, with dark berry, plum and wild berry flavors that are both supple and layered, firming midpalate and gaining a loamy earth minerality on the long, sustained finish, all capped by melted black licorice. Drink now through 2024. *Highly Recommended* (JL)
Vivid ruby-red. Sexy, explosive aromas of red berry preserves and potpourri, with a spicy topnote. Sweet and expansive on the palate, offering sappy raspberry and cherry flavors and notes of candied rose and white pepper. Shows impressive finesse for a big wine and finishes smooth, seamless and long. (JR)
