The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet colored, the nose offers up open-knit, mature notes of baked blackberries, warm cassis and plum preserves with touches of dried sage, cigar box and menthol plus touches of smoked meats and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied, the palate leads with a sturdy structure of firm, chewy tannins and oodles of freshness framing the evolved, savory flavors, finishing on a stewed tea note. (LPB)
Pure and graceful, impressively supple, with a firm backbone. The tannins flex on the finish. (JL)
Good ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of dark berries, graphite and chocolate verge on roasted. Plush and fine-grained; in a very ripe style but its flavors of cassis, dark plum, spices and camphor show very good energy and grip. Not a particularly sweet version of this wine thanks to its element of spicy, herbal restraint. Finishes with suave tannins and insinuating length. But decant this before you serve it, or wait a couple more years, as the wine's oak and faint herbal elements have not yet completely harmonized. (ST) 92+
