The 2010 Côtes du Rhône-Villages Terre d’Argile is a magnificent effort from the galets roules soils just behind Château Beaucastel, across the border of Châteauneuf du Pape. Huge notes of black raspberries, forest floor, truffles, roasted meats, bouquet garni, black raspberries and black currants jump from a glass of this powerful, rich, concentrated wine. With excellent acidity, sweet tannin and amazing concentration for a Côtes du Rhône-Villages, it should drink well for 6-8 years. (RP)
Juicy, loaded with delicious bramble, spice, raspberry and plum sauce notes and backed by a solid graphite edge. Drink now through 2015. (JM, Web Only-2013)
Inky purple. Brighter and higher in pitch than the straight Cotes du Rhone today, displaying aromas of raspberry, rose and Asian spices. Fresh and nervy on the palate, offering powerful red berry and bitter cherry flavors and a hint of candied rose. Fine-grained tannins add grip to the long, spicy, well-focused finish. (JR)
