A spicy version, sporting cinnamon, clove, licorice and black cherry aromas and flavors. This is intense, verging on chewy in texture, with a firm underlying structure. Licorice and mineral converge on the aftertaste.
The 2009 Clos de Vougeot Pres le Cellier is a dark, sumptuous wine that shows quite a bit more textural richness and depth than the Grand Montpertuis bottling. There is a layered quality to the fruit I find especially appealing here. This is made from the estate’s larger piece in Clos de Vougeot measuring 2.7 hectares that Meo has christened Pres le Cellier. (AG)
