The 2007 Reserva shows far greater pedigree than the 2006. The blend is approximately the same with an additional two months in American oak. It exhibits greater intensity on the nose with elegant red fruit, mingling with lavender and terracotta aromas. It is well-defined and speaks of its place. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy, well-defined entry. Crisp red fruit, sage and a touch of orange rind vie for attention, while the oak is succinctly well-integrated. The cocoa-tinged finish is both satisfying and long. Drink 2014-2025.
Bright ruby-red. Cherry, black raspberry, vanilla and cracked pepper on the highly perfumed nose. Sappy, incisive dark fruit flavors are lifted by tangy acidity and pick up smokiness and oak spices with air. Finishes on a gently sweet note, with very good clinging length.
Black on the surface, this wine’s young, cherry skin tannins lend a mineral tinge to the blush of red fruit hiding underneath. Oak completes the finish, with scents of jasmine and butterscotch. This needs a year or two in bottle to meld.
Cherry and raspberry aromas lead the charge, but as it airs out it becomes more raisiny and jammy smelling. The flavors are solid but distant, with simple red fruit, oak and barrel notes setting the pace. Highly drinkable and easygoing but not complex or elevated. (Web-2011)
This smooth red offers modest flavors of cherry, vanilla and herbs, with light tannins and clean acidity. Drink now. (Web-2011)
