Full, deep red. Aromas of plum, raspberry, graphite and spices; the most complex yet of these pinots. Concentrated, sweet and penetrating, with nicely delineated berry and spiceflavors. Perhaps a bit less broad than the Carrie's but offers lovely fruit and a firm texture. Finishes with noteworthy persistence. (from five clones planted in three terraced parcels.) (ST)
Discreet oak frames spicy dark pinot fruit that displays a seductive hint of the exotic that leads to rich, full, sweet and delicious medium full flavors wrapped in a lush, opulent, slightly dusty finish of impressive complexity. To be sure, this is crafted in a ripe full-blown style yet there is balance and the acidity that pokes through on the finish of so many higher-octane examples...I like the deft winemaking touch and the quality of the underlying material speaks for itself. In short, this is exceptionally well done.
The 2003 Pinot Noir Terraces exhibits plenty of earthy, spicy, stemmy notes, a hint of underbrush, and a medium-bodied, attractively fruity, herbaceous character that is smoky, spicy, and firmly structured. Give it 1-2 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 7-8 years. (RP)
