Perched high on the western slopes of the remote Gavilan Mountain Range, 1,800 feet above California's Salinas Valley, Chalone Vineyard represents a singular convergence of terroir and winemaking. It's a site that was deemed unique enough to have its very own AVA! Chalone Pinot Noir, produced in true Burgundian fashion, shows uncommon power, depth and complexity, not to mention its ability to age. Robert Parker wrote of Chalone during this period that "over the years I have had some immensely impressive Pinot Noirs from Chalone. The 1978 and 1980 are now complex, beautifully rich, earthy wines with considerable character."
