The 2010 Paderewski Vineyard is a perfumed extrovert that delivers loads of Zin flair, with brambly black and blue fruits, licorice, charred earth, spice-box, and crushed flowers on the nose. Sweetly fruited, seamless, and gorgeously textured, with a powerful, tannic, and heady finish, this hedonistic effort also stays light on the palate and is hard to resist. It too should benefit from short term cellaring, and impress for over a decade.
The 2010 Paderewski Vineyard is drinking beautifully, revealing an exuberant bouquet of ripe blackberries, summer truffles, raw cocoa and warm spices. On the palate, it's full-bodied, rich and powerful but balanced by juicy acids and framed by fine-grained, chalky tannins. While undeniably ripe and authoritative, the overall impression is very classy and harmonious. It's a blend of 35% Zinfandel, 26% Mourvèdre, 19% Tempranillo, 11% Syrah and 9% Petite Sirah that checks in at 16.1% alcohol. (WK)
The 2010 Paderewski Vineyard is firing on all cylinders today. The Zinfandel is very much front and center in a big, boisterous wine full of personality. Mocha, chocolate, spice and plum notes caress the palate in a succulent, highly expressive wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. This is without question the biggest and most exuberant of the Saxum wines. Today it is stunning. (AG)
A powerhouse blend that's focused and balanced, yet loaded with personality and a sense of place. Spicy wild berry and mineral aromas lead to rich, layered flavors of boysenberry, toasted herb and anise wrapped around muscular tannins. (TF)
Opaque purple. An exotically perfumed bouquet displays scents of spice-accented black raspberry, cherry, violet and incense, with a bright mineral quality gaining power with air. Densely packed but impressively vibrant, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors that show iqueur-like depth and intensity. Floral pastille and raspberry notes carry through a long, sappy, seamless finish. (JR)
Dusty earth sprinkled over mixed currant, tobacco, and black liquorice – herbal, fresh and earthy. Lots of pleasing tension – full mid-palate flavour but taut and lengthy structural frame. Offers tenacity with purity, and lots of persistence. Allow it some time in the cellar and air upon opening. (ECB) 17/20
